These plants can reduce components of indoor air pollution, even volatile organic compounds such as benzene, formaldehyde, toluene, and xylene. They also reduce airborne microbes and increase humidity.
  • Researchers from NASA and other organizations have approved this plant as an air purifier, and it tops the list. Syngoniums absorb pollutants into their leaves, and the toxins go to the root zone where they are transformed into nutrients for the plant.
  • This plant can be grown on windowsills, in living rooms, bedrooms, corridors

Soil & Climate
:

  • It requires well-drained soil which retains its moisture for a long period.
  • Ideal soil mixture: 20% Gardening Soil, 70% Cocopeat and 10% Compost.
  • Regards to fertilizer use, one can use vermicompost or any organic fertilizer twice a year.
  • This plant grows well in a semi-shade areas. Syngonium does not mind low light indoor conditions for a long time. Its attractive different textured foliage with ornamental leaves and patterns makes it suitable for indoor decor.

Light Requirement
:

  • Syngonium is a semi-shade loving plant.
  • Syngonium need at least two hours of early morning sunlight or evening sunlight
  • If it is placed in sunlight for a long time, then its leaves will lose texture and it gets burnt thereby damaging the whole plant.
  • In addition to this, if the leaves are getting curled or brown, it indicates that the plant is receiving much more amount of light. In this case, move the plant to a place where there is a good amount of bright indirect light for two-three days.

Water Technique
:

  • Watering to the plant must be done after every 4 to 5 days as it is already planted in cocopeat which has a high amount of moisture in it.
  • Water well once an upper layer of soil (1inch) is dried. You can check by touching the soil.
  • When watering is done to this plant it should be well watered.
  • Excessive watering can cause root rot and falling of leaves can occur.

Propagation
:

  • One common technique is the root division technique. When small buds grow in the pot, you can re-pot them by separating them through their roots.
  • Another technique to propagate the Syngonium plant is by cutting its leaves from its stem where aerial roots are developed. Put it in a glass filled with water. After a few days, roots will grow and they can be planted in a pot.

Thanks and best of luck!

Happy Planting!
